The Senator is a small-batch straight rye whiskey bottled by Proof & Wood Ventures at barrel proof, uncut and non-chill-filtered. The spirit is a high-rye whiskey distilled at Ross & Squibb Distillery (MGP) in Indiana. It is in a 750ml bottle.
It was aged in new charred oak barrels for at least six years.
The nose combines toffee, orange peel, herbal notes, light tobacco and toasted oak with hints of dark chocolate. The palate is full of rye spice and black pepper, with caramel, blackberry, toasted almond and lemon zest. The finish is long and warm, with lingering citrus, light tobacco and drying oak tannins.
