This is a ten year old Caol Ila from Islay, bottled by The Single Malts of Scotland. It was distilled in 2009 and matured in a single hogshead, which gave 298 bottles.
The whisky is described as a fresh, classic Caol Ila. On the nose, dry smoke and dandelion sit over wet stones, with sea kelp, oysters and lemon juice. The palate brings smouldering peat, green grass, sea salt and citrus peel, with a silky texture. The finish fades from smoke into burnt orange, cardamom and pine, with a flinty edge.
