This Ben Nevis single malt comes from The Single Malts of Scotland Director's Special series. It was distilled in 1996 and aged for more than 27 years in a single hogshead, which yielded 228 bottles.
The nose combines matcha chocolate, lychee and raspberry leaf with aromatic wood spice, honeyed citrus and ripe guava. The palate is dense, with dried mango and peach juice balanced by bay leaf and tarragon, then blood orange, grapefruit, nutmeg and white chocolate. The finish is oily and lingering, with cinnamon, dark honey and increasingly pronounced grapefruit.
