The Whistler Bodega Cask is a triple distilled Irish single malt, bottled at 46%. It spent five years in Oloroso sherry butts from Spain.
The sherry influence is clear, yet the whisky keeps its strong Irish character. It is a powerful malt, with a nose of dried fruit, chocolate and a little tobacco, over lemon zest and caramel.
On the palate it is rich, with leather, spices, dried figs and sultanas alongside bitter dark chocolate and dry citrus peel. The finish is very long and lingering, with a drying, dusty mouthfeel, dried fruit and a malty taste.
