This is an 18-year-old Highland single malt from Thompson Bros, matured in refill wood and bottled at 48.5% ABV. The spirit is peated.
The nose brings charred hazelnuts, peated malt, burnt sage and rosemary, tar, crushed seashells and heather smoke, with quince and apple peel. The palate is powerful, with sharp citrus, heather honey, stewed apples, salt and wet slate, plus smoked ham and capers. The finish is salty peanut brittle with earthy peat and lingering cigar smoke.
