Three Chord Strange Collaboration is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled in Chelsea, Michigan, at 49.5% ABV. The mash bill is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, and the whiskey was finished for several months in French oak pinot noir barrels from Strange Family Vineyards in California's Santa Rita Hills.
The brand was founded by musician and producer Neil Giraldo, and this release honours the late adventurer Johnny Strange, a friend of Giraldo. A portion of proceeds supports the Johnny Strange Foundation.
It is described as having caramel and vanilla up front, lifted by red berry and dark cherry from the wine barrels, then rye spice and toasted oak in a warm, lingering finish.
