Tincup American Whiskey is a blend of high-rye straight bourbon, distilled and aged in Indiana, with a small amount of Colorado single malt. It is cut with Rocky Mountain water and bottled in Colorado at 42% ABV, in a 75cl bottle.
The combined blend is reported as 64% corn, 32% rye and 4% malted barley, matured in new charred American white oak barrels. The malt component is why it is labelled American whiskey rather than bourbon. Jess Graber launched it in 2014 as a tribute to the mining town of Tin Cup, Colorado.
It is caramel in colour, with citrus, black pepper and ginger snaps on the nose. The palate brings rye spice, cinnamon and caramel, and the finish is clean, returning to rye spice.
