Tincup American Whiskey is the flagship release from Colorado's Tincup Whiskey Company, founded by Jess Graber, a co-founder of Stranahan's. It is built on a high rye bourbon mash bill of 64% corn, 32% rye and 4% malted barley, distilled in Indiana and aged for four to five years in new char number three American oak barrels.
A small splash of Stranahan's Colorado single malt is blended in, and the whiskey is reduced with Rocky Mountain water before bottling in Denver at 42% abv (84 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is light vanilla and maple syrup with caramel and baking spice. The palate is light-bodied, with vanilla, oak, sweet corn, soft rye spice and a hint of cinnamon. The finish is medium to short, with caramel and a whisper of rye.
