Tobermory – 17 Year Old 2004 Oloroso Cask Matured (70cl)

This is a 17 year old Tobermory single malt, matured throughout in Oloroso sherry casks and sold in a 70cl bottle. The full sherry maturation is what shapes it, bringing a mix of caramel, fruit and rose petal, with oak and leather in the background. On the nose there is toffee and caramel, then almonds, blackcurrant and a little spice. The palate offers rose petal, tropical fruit, walnut, cherry and creamy toffee, held in check by oak, tannin and leather. The finish is unusually dry and nutty, with a note of ginger.
