Tobermory – 23 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish (70cl, 46.3%)

This is a 23-year-old Tobermory single malt from the Island region, finished in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first of five planned annual releases in the distillery's Hebridean Series. For the series, a parcel of the standard 15-year-old was re-racked into Oloroso sherry casks for a long secondary maturation. This first edition was bottled after eight years in those casks. Its colour is a deep rose gold. The nose offers vanilla, ripe oranges, toasted barley and rich fruitcake with a hint of cocoa. The palate shows clear sherry influence with salted toffee, vanilla fudge, spicy oak, candied citrus and floral honey. The finish brings caramelised walnuts with a subtle salty note.
