Tomatin – 12 Year Old (75cl, 43%)

Tomatin 12 Year Old is an unpeated Highland single malt from the Tomatin distillery near Inverness, bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle. It spent twelve years maturing in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Spanish oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon casks bring vanilla and orchard fruit, while the sherry casks add dried fruit and spice. The nose opens buttery, with heather, pine and cedar sweetening into crème caramel, apples and pears. On the palate there is oaky vanilla and fresh mint, with stem ginger and dried orange peel. The finish is full and buttery, with currant buns, a hint of raspberry jam and barley.
