Tomatin – Decades II (46%)

Tomatin Decades II is a single malt vatted from 21 casks chosen from the last five decades, bottled at 46% ABV. The first Decades appeared in 2011 to mark the work of former distillery manager Douglas Campbell. The casks span ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, wine and re-charred French oak: a 1970s bourbon hogshead, a 1980s first fill oloroso sherry butt, 1990s first fill bourbon, 2000s verdejo wine casks and 2010s second fill French oak. The nose has citrus, pastry and wood shavings with dried fruit and almonds. The palate shows Christmas cake, maple syrup and red berries, and the finish is long and waxy.
