Tomintoul – 10 Year Old (75cl, 40%)

A Speyside single malt Scotch whisky matured for ten years in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Only ex-bourbon casks are used for this expression, and it is often called 'the gentle dram'. Tomintoul distillery stands between the villages of Ballindalloch and Tomintoul and draws its process water from the Ballantruan Spring. Honey, baked apple and ripe pear mark the nose, with light fudge, vanilla and a floral note. Toffee and honey lead the palate, followed by red apple, nutty milk chocolate and a touch of white pepper. The finish is short, with sweet malt, oak tannins and a faint citrus bitterness.
