Torabhaig 2017 is the first release in the distillery's Legacy Series, a single malt from the Isle of Skye. Torabhaig is only the second licensed single malt distillery on the island, and the first in 190 years. The spirit was first distilled in January 2017.
It was matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. About 3,000 bottles were released. The series will follow the distillery's early development until a 10-year-old is ready, around 2028.
The nose brings coastal peat, vanilla, baked apple, seaweed and mineral salts. The palate is oily and smoky with green fruit, and the finish is long, with brine, vanilla and citrus.
