Torabhaig – The Distillers Series Iona's First Edition (70cl, 60.9%)

A single malt from Torabhaig on the Isle of Skye, and the first edition in The Distillers Series created by Iona Macphie. Dark chocolate, which kept company with a dram on her walks around Skye, shaped the idea. The mash bill pairs unpeated malt with ten per cent chocolate malt, a heavily roasted speciality malt. It matured in first-fill and refill bourbon casks and Madeira casks, and is bottled at 60.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose brings cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla and malted grain, with citrus and light tropical fruit. On the palate come clove and peppermint, caramel, toffee, red currant and raisin. The finish is long, with toasted oak, ginger, vanilla, pepper and cinnamon.
