Traveller Whiskey Blend No. 40 is a blended American whiskey made as a collaboration between Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky and the country musician Chris Stapleton. It takes its name from Stapleton's debut solo album, Traveller, and No. 40 was the recipe chosen after more than 50 trial blends.
The blend draws on Kentucky straight bourbon and high-rye whiskeys from Sazerac distilleries, and is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
The nose offers vanilla, dark caramel, butterscotch and toasted oak, with red apple and soft baking spices. The palate is light and silky, with vanilla cream, dark honey and toasted corn, then a little oak spice and rye warmth. The finish is medium in length, clean and warm.
