Tri Carragh Macduff 13 Year Old Marsala Barrique (70cl, 61.8%)

This is a 13 year old Highland single malt from Macduff, bottled by Tri Carragh at a cask strength of 61.8% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in May 2010 and bottled in 2024, with the final 15 months spent in a first-fill Rubino Marsala barrique. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered, and the cask gave 210 bottles. Neat, the nose and palate bring blackberries and blackcurrants, with strawberries, dark chocolate and a peppery hit. With water, sweeter tropical fruits come forward alongside vanilla and hints of strawberry, and the palate stays juicy and sweet, with dark berries still present.
