Tullamore D.E.W. Special Reserve 12 Year Old is an Irish whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV.
It is a triple-distilled blend of pot still, malt and grain whiskeys, with more pot still and malt than the standard Tullamore D.E.W. The whiskey is matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, the sherry wood adding a sweet nuttiness with spicy back notes.
In the glass it is described as scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, sultanas, dates and honey on the nose. The palate is light and soft, with nutmeg, allspice and honey, and the finish is medium, oaky and bittersweet.
