Catcher's Rye is a straight rye whiskey from Two James Spirits in Corktown, Detroit, the city's first licensed distillery since Prohibition. It is bottled at 49.4% ABV (98.8 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
The mash is 100% Michigan rye with no barley, and the distillery uses Great Lakes water. The whiskey is aged for a minimum of four years in new American oak.
The nose is cinnamon, lemon peel and marzipan. The palate offers honey, vanilla, figs, dates, cinnamon, ginger and rye bread. The finish is long, with dried orange, pecan, clove, potpourri, nutmeg and rose petal.
