TX is a four-year-old wheated straight bourbon, distilled and aged in Fort Worth, Texas, by Firestone & Robertson Distilling Company. It is bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The grain bill is all Texas: yellow dent corn, soft red winter wheat and 6-row distillers malt. The yeast strain, called Brazos, was captured from a single Texas pecan nut.
The nose shows caramel, vanilla and malty nuttiness, with cinnamon, dry grass and toasted grains. The palate is corn-forward and oily, with brown sugar and fig, then allspice and stone fruit, and stays soft rather than sharp. The finish is medium, with toasted grain and gentle baking spice.
