Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey Madeira Cask Finish

A ten-year-old Irish single malt from Tyrconnell, finished in Madeira casks. The brand dates from 1876, when R. M. Delamere's chestnut colt, Tyrconnell, won the National Produce Stakes. A. A. Watt, a local distiller in the crowd that day, named a small-batch whiskey after the horse to mark the win. He meant to make it only once, but it became the most popular whiskey the Watts produced, and before Prohibition it was claimed to be the best-selling Irish whiskey. The Kilbeggan Distilling Company looks after the brand today, and each bottle carries the commemorative label celebrating the victory.
