Uncle Nearest 1856 is a Tennessee whiskey named in honour of Nathan Green, the formerly enslaved man said to have taught the young Jack Daniel to distil. Fawn Weaver, inspired by his story, bought the farm and built a distillery nearby.
It is made from local grains with a special yeast strain, double distilled, and mellowed through charcoal in the Lincoln County process before ageing in new American oak casks.
It is described as rich and smooth, with a sweet nose and a caramel palate carrying a little spice.
