This is a 12-year-old Royal Brackla from the Young Masters Edition of independent bottler Valinch & Mallet. It comes from a single cask matured entirely in ex-bourbon wood and was bottled in 2024 at 48.8% ABV, in a 750 ml bottle.
Royal Brackla is a Highland distillery founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser, on the Cawdor Castle estate. It was the first distillery granted a Royal Warrant, by King William IV in 1835.
The nose opens with melon and candy around a gentle smoke. The palate is velvety, rich and balanced, with a slightly herbaceous edge, Maldon salt and pink pepper. The finish is long, with cut grass and wet wood smoke.
