Valle Reale Montepulciano d'Abruzzo San Callisto 2015

Valle Reale Montepulciano d'Abruzzo San Callisto 2015 is a red wine from a vineyard at 350 metres above sea level. The 2015 vintage gave grapes with a balance of fruit sweetness, structure and acidity. It is made from grapes from a small parcel with the oldest vines on the site, fermented with the grapes' own yeast culture. The wine matured for 12 months in steel tanks and then 18 months in large wooden casks. It offers aromas of wild blackberry and blueberry, followed by spicy notes and tones of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and herbs. The palate repeats some of these tones, with good minerality and freshness. It has great personality, depth and complexity, and good ageing potential. Decanting for about an hour is recommended. Serve with lamb, game or beef dishes with plenty of herbs and garlic.
