Van Winkle Family Reserve is a 17-year-old bourbon, filled into cask in 1974 and bottled in 1991 by Julien Van Winkle III.
The whiskey is believed to have come from Boone distillery. Julien Van Winkle III bottled it at Old Commonwealth, the former Hoffman distillery he bought in 1983 and renamed. The same bourbon was bottled once before, in 1990, at 16 years old.
