Vigna Valferana Gattinara DOCG - Nervi

A Gattinara from Nervi, made in an elegant rather than powerful style. It offers a clear bouquet of ripe red fruit, rose petals and an earthy, mineral undertone, with subtle spicy notes. Freshness is lively and sustained, while the tannins are firm but well integrated, giving structure and drive. On the palate it is vertical, with a sapid progression and good persistence; the finish is clean, with returns of red fruit and a slight herbaceous hint. It benefits from a few hours in a decanter if the more austere parts need softening, and pairs well with roast or braised red meat, game, aged cheeses, mushrooms and rustic tomato sauces.
