Virginia Distillery Co. Cabernet Cask Select is an American single malt made in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia from 100% malted barley. It is bottled at 46.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spends several years in first-fill bourbon casks before a finish in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from California and France.
The nose offers black cherry, dried apricot, cedar and a trace of smoke. On the palate come ripe blackberry, stewed plum and dark chocolate, with candied ginger beneath.
