W.B. Saffell is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 37.5cl bottle, part of the Whiskey Barons Collection from Wild Turkey and made with Master Distiller Eddie Russell. It is a blend of bourbons aged 6, 8, 10 and 12 years, bottled at 53.5% ABV (107 proof) without chill filtration.
The release honours William Butler Saffell, who built his first distillery in 1889. It uses a high-rye mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley.
The nose offers caramel, creamy vanilla, dried fruit, seasoned oak and warm baking spice. The palate is rich with caramel, vanilla, black pepper, cinnamon and dark fruit over toasted oak. The finish is long and warming, with spice, vanilla and gentle pepper.
