W.L. Weller 12 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon made in a 70cl bottle to the wheated recipe of William Larue Weller. Wheat takes the place of rye as the secondary grain, a approach Weller is credited with introducing in 1849. The bourbon is aged for a minimum of 12 years.
On the nose it is described as creamy vanilla, caramel and molasses, with lanolin, almond and toasty vanilla also noted. The palate brings candied corn, ripe and dried fruits and cocoa powder, moderately sweet and layered. The finish is long, soft and oaky, with hints of mint, fruit and vanilla.
