W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight wheated bourbon, bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the entry bottling in the Weller line.
Wheat takes the place of rye in the recipe, a change credited to William Larue Weller, the bourbon's namesake. Wheated bourbon of this kind is the style behind names such as Pappy, Maker's Mark and Rebel Yell, which makes this a sensible place to start for anyone learning how bourbon varies.
