Waterproof Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (45.8%)

Waterproof is a blended malt Scotch whisky from MacDuff International, bottled in batches at 45.8% ABV (91.6 proof). It contains no grain whisky. The name nods to Charles Macintosh, the Scottish inventor of the waterproof raincoat, and plays on water and proof. The malts come from a handful of distilleries and were aged in first-fill and second-fill bourbon and sherry casks, giving a sherry-influenced blend of bright bronze-gold colour. The nose has raisins, apple strudel and red berry jam, with old leather and cereal barley. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with toffee apples, dried figs, fruitcake, espresso and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with drying oak, malt loaf and ginger.
