Wathen's Single Barrel Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It comes from individually selected barrels aged between six and nine years. The mashbill is 77% corn, 10% rye and 13% malted barley.
The Medley family, whose bourbon-making goes back to the late 1700s, use their own yeast strain. Family members taste each barrel blind and approve only those at their peak.
The nose has vanilla, banana, dry straw and honey. The palate brings raisins, cherries, orange, clove, walnut and dark chocolate, ending in pepper and allspice. The finish is medium to long and warming, with charred wood and raisin sweetness.
