Wattie Boone 1776 is a wheated Kentucky small batch bourbon from Preservation Distillery in Bardstown, bottled at 50.9% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered.
The whiskey is double-distilled in copper pot stills and aged for a minimum of six years in new American oak, with varying levels of toast and char. It is blended in micro-batches of one to three barrels. The brand is named after Wattie Boone, the first documented bourbon producer in Kentucky.
The nose is hay, toasted almonds, sawdust, cornbread and wildflower honey. The palate brings chamomile and endive, and the finish is fresh green apple with lime oil.
