Weller 12 Year Old is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. It is bottled at 45% in a 75cl-class 750ml bottle after twelve years in oak, and it is the longest-aged bourbon in the core Weller range.
Its mash bill uses wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain, which gives the bourbon a honeyed softness.
On the nose there is honey, toffee, vanilla, baked apple and cinnamon over warm oak. The palate brings caramel, vanilla, mature oak, honey, brown sugar and baking spice. The finish is long and oaky, with vanilla, mint and fruit.
