Weller 12 Year Old is a wheated Kentucky bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled in 2016 at 45%. Wheat is the secondary grain in the mash bill, and the whiskey spent twelve years in oak.
The nose offers caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, dried cherries and honeycomb, with butterscotch and old leather. The palate is silky, with toffee, dark fruit, baking spice, light cocoa and sweet pipe tobacco. The finish is long and warm, with vanilla, oak and cinnamon fading to soft almond and dried fig.
