Weller Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Wheat takes the place of rye as the secondary grain, which gives a softer, sweeter style. The recipe goes back to the 19th-century distiller William Larue Weller, who used wheat instead of rye.
Caramel is noticeable on the nose. On the palate come honey, butterscotch and soft woodiness, and the finish is smooth with a sweet honeysuckle note.
