Wemyss Malts Kiln Embers (75cl, 46%)

Kiln Embers is a blended malt from Wemyss Malts, made entirely from malt whisky with no grain whisky, and bottled at 46% without chill-filtration in a 75cl bottle. It was released in September 2015 to mark the tenth anniversary of Wemyss Malts, in an edition of 12,000 bottles. The name refers to peat-fired malting kilns, and the blend holds twice the smoky Islay malt of the Wemyss Peat Chimney. Official notes describe snuffed smoke, salted lemons and sweet cured bacon on the nose. The palate brings oats and orange peel over heathery peat, and the finish is silky, with sweet smoke.
