The Hive is a non-chill filtered blended malt Scotch whisky from Wemyss Malts, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is built from 16 single malts around a Speyside core, and it won a Double Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Nearly a third of the blend comes from one Speyside distillery that matured its spirit in both fresh and refill sherry casks.
The nose is heather honey and blossom, with dried fruit in orange liqueur and a waxy sweetness. The palate brings honey, butterscotch and dried fruit, then zesty orange and a ginger tingle. The finish is warm and fairly long, with clove-spiked grapefruit and honey.
