Westland – American Single Malt Whiskey (46%)

Westland American Single Malt is the distillery's flagship expression, bottled at 46%. It follows more than ten years of work by Westland to establish American single malt as a category of its own. The whiskey matures for a minimum of 40 months in a mix of casks: new and used Cooper's Reserve American oak, first fill ex-bourbon, and first and second fill ex-Oloroso hogsheads and butts. The grain bill includes Washington select pale malt, Munich, extra special, pale chocolate and brown malts, and Bairds heavily peated malt. The nose brings custard filling, marionberry compote, maple brittle and toasted marshmallow. On the palate come almond nougat, crème brûlée, black tea, white flower petals and malted milk balls.
