Westland – Cask Exchange American Single Malt (75cl, 50%)

Westland Cask Exchange is an American single malt, in a 750ml bottle at 50% ABV. This edition is a partnership with Redhook Brewlab, whose casks had previously held a Stratosphere Barley Wine made with Strata hops. The whisky spent 39 months in new American oak, then 48 months in refill ex-bourbon casks that had held the barley wine, 87 months of maturation in all. The grain bill is Washington select pale malt, Munich malt, extra special malt, pale chocolate malt and brown malt. It opens with malt and oak and a hint of smoke. The nose brings chocolate chip cookie dough, Danish butter cookie, apple skins and jasmine, and the palate dried apricot, dates, light smoke, crêpe and subtle vanilla.
