Colere Edition 4 is a Westland single malt made from Fritz barley, also known as NZ-151, developed at the WSU Bread Lab in Mount Vernon, Washington. It was released in May 2024 in a 70cl bottle, with 3,084 bottles filled.
The whiskey matured for a minimum of 71 months, 95% of it in refill Westland casks, including second fill Cooper's Reserve and Cooper's Select, and 5% in second fill ex-bourbon. It was fermented with Belgian brewer's yeast.
The barley gives a fruity nose of pear skin, dried apricot, light brown sugar, croissant and fresh tangerine. The palate offers apple turnover, dried fruit, cocoa butter and jasmine green tea, with an herbaceous finish.
