Westland Flagship is an American single malt from Westland Distillery in Seattle, Washington, bottled at 46% ABV. It is the distillery's core expression.
The mash uses Washington-grown pale malt alongside Munich, Extra Special, pale chocolate and brown malts, with a small share of heavily peated malt for an earthy note rather than obvious smoke. It is matured for a minimum of about 40 months in new and used American oak, first-fill ex-bourbon casks and some oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is fresh-sawn oak and toasted malt with orange peel, vanilla cream and baked apple. The palate is silky and malty, with honey, apricot, apple, dark berries and cocoa. The finish is medium.
