Westland Wine Cask Finish is an American single malt from Westland Distillery in Seattle, Washington, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Cask Exploration Series, which looks at cask finishes from the Pacific Northwest, and it pays homage to the region's winemakers.
The malt is matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in Tempranillo, Washington State red blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot casks.
On the nose there is allspice, chocolate wafer, raspberry reduction and dried rose. The palate brings chocolate raspberry turnover, Earl Grey tea and dried strawberry, with the fruit set against a rich, robust malt base.
