Westport is an 18 year old blended malt from the Highlands, distilled in 2008 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 55%. It is a single cask release from Rare Find, with 204 bottles filled, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The spirit is mostly from one Highland distillery, with a teaspoon of another malt added, which makes it a blended malt by classification. It was finished for 14 months in a first-fill oloroso sherry hogshead from Bodegas Barbadillo.
The nose is crisp apple, poached pear and peaches in syrup. On the palate come ripe fruit, golden syrup and fresh apricots, and the finish brings lingering tinned fruit, dusty oak and a touch of white pepper.
