This is an eight-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, bottled by WhiskyDudes under the Staoisha name. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 58.9% ABV, is natural colour and non-chill-filtered, and was limited to 141 bottles.
The spirit was distilled on 30 September 2014 and bottled on 2 February 2023. It matured in a sherry butt, then spent 23 months re-racked into a first-fill oloroso quarter cask.
The nose brings caramel toffee, cinnamon, gingerbread, star anise, brambles, figs and peat smoke, with a whiff of gunpowder. The palate is treacly and punchy, with salty seaweed, oyster sauce and liquorice. The finish is long, with dark fruits and coastal smoke.
