The Bastard No.3 is a 7 year old blended malt Scotch from WhiskyDudes, the bottler founded by Edwin van Scherpenzeel. It brings together malt from Macallan, Highland Park and Glenrothes, distilled in 2016 and finished for three years in an oloroso hogshead before bottling in 2024.
It comes from a single cask at 51.5% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, and 133 bottles were filled.
The nose is candied peach, honey and liquorice with subtle wood, and a little water brings out floral and bright fruit notes. On the palate Dutch liquorice leads, with tutti frutti and candied fruit. The finish returns to liquorice with charcoal, rooibos and a sweet-sour fruit compote.
