This is a limited-edition 10 year old straight rye from WhistlePig of Vermont, made from a 100% rye mash bill. It is bottled at 55% (110 proof) in a one-litre silver pig decanter that marks America's 250th anniversary.
The decanter has red, white and blue accents. The 110 proof strength is higher than the 100 proof of the regular 10 Year.
The nose is assertive rye spice, caramel, Madagascar vanilla, toasted oak and citrus peel. The palate is peppery rye with buttery toffee, baking spices, honey and leather, and the long, warming finish carries rye spice, oak tannins and sweet vanilla.
