This is a 10 year old straight rye from WhistlePig, made from an aged rye whiskey stock found in Alberta, Canada. The stock had been destined for blending. It was instead aged further in new American oak and bottled on its own by hand.
The nose combines allspice, orange peel, anise, oak, char and caramel. The palate is sweet, with hints of caramel and vanilla, then rye spice and mint.
The finish is long, with warm butterscotch and caramel.
