This is the 4th Edition of WhistlePig's Double Malt Rye, an 18 year old rye whiskey in a 750ml bottle. It is made from a mash bill of 79% rye, 15% malted rye and 6% malted barley, and finished in Spanish PX sherry casks.
Each annual edition is topped with a glass stopper handmade in Vermont.
The nose is sweet and aromatic, with toasted almonds, caramel and subtle smoked maple. The palate opens with warmth, then barely sweet, grassy spice and a soft, lingering honey note. The finish is long, with dried fruit.
