This is a six year old rye whiskey from WhistlePig, called Piggyback and made from a mash bill of 100% rye. It was created by the late Dave Pickerell to work as a rye for cocktails, and comes in a 75cl bottle.
It is bottled at 48.3% ABV, a strength of 96.56 proof chosen to sit well in the balance of strength, sweetness and bitterness in a cocktail. Manhattans, Old Fashioneds and Vieux Carrés are among the drinks it is intended for. The aim is a bold, spicy flavour profile.
